McClure Run Westminster College

McClure Run – Westminster College

The McClure Run Watershed Restoration Project consisted of restoring and enhancing 1,685 linear feet of McClure Run using Natural Stream Channel Design techniques to promote a stable stream corridor and improve aquatic health. Westminster College received a PADEP Growing Greener grant to complete the stream restoration which flows through the college’s campus.

The natural stream corridor was realized by improving the stream’s sinuosity, in-stream habitat, expanding floodplain habitat, and by promoting stormwater infiltration from adjacent urban runoff. The aesthetics of the stream corridor were improved by creating vegetative riparian buffers and establishing additional shade trees.

WPG worked with the Lawrence County Conservation District and Westminster College to lead volunteers of all ages in the planting day at the site.
