The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation – District 11-0 (PennDOT) relocated four (4) sections of Crows Run as part of the Freedom Road Reconstruction Project in the Borough of Conway, Beaver County, Pennsylvania. The new roadway improved driver safety and connection to Cranberry Township.

WallacePancher Group, working as a subconsultant to SAI Consulting Engineers, used Natural Channel Design (NCD) and bio-engineering techniques to design approximately 5,000 LF of stream relocations and restoration areas. The relocations and restoration eliminated streambank erosion and improved biological diversity . The project included:

• Preparation of design plans, construction documents and cost estimate to PennDOT standards.
• In-stream structures, including cross rock vanes, converging rock clusters, toewood, and combined boulder/toewood to stabilize the streambed and eliminate bank erosion and reconnect floodplains.
• Added floodplains to the relocated stream sections to dissipate energy and promote a natural corridor.
• Installed native trees and shrubs to re-establish a riparian habitat.
• Assisted SAI Consulting Engineers with the H&H Analysis and construction sequencing of the stream relocations and bridge at Romigh Rd.
• Provided construction coordination and oversight of the contractor
