Consol Baily Mine Rail Siding

Bailey Mine Rail Siding

Consol Energy planned to develop a two-mile rail siding along an existing and active Norfolk Southern railway line to service the Bailey Mine Complex in Richhill Township, Greene County, Pennsylvania.

WallacePancher Group was retained to conduct aquatic studies along the corridor, prepare state and federal permits, and the Compensatory Mitigation Plan.

The mitigation called for over 1,000 lf of stream restoration in the adjacent valley along the rail siding where a UNT to Enlow Fork had historically been straightened. Natural meanders, grade control and bank stabilization structures, and benthic habitat enhancements were incorporated into the design.
